Whispering Rock by Robyn Carr

Whispering Rock is the third book in the ongoing Virgin River series. Here's the blurb-

The tightly knit community of virgin river has been a safe haven for more than a few lost souls over the years – and there’s always room for one more...
A decorated U.S. Marine reservist, LAPD officer Mike Valenzuela was badly wounded in the line of duty, but has found hope and healing in Virgin River. When he agrees to become the town’s first cop, he does so knowing it’s time he settled down. Twice divorced and the lover of too many women, he secretly longs for the kind of commitment and happiness his marine buddies have found – a woman who can tie up his heart forever. He finds that woman in Brie Sheridan, a Sacramento prosecutor who understands his drive to protect and serve. Virgin River becomes a safe haven for Brie after nearly losing her life at the hands of a crazed criminal. Though tough and courageous, she’s got some fears she can’t escape – but now she has someone who will shower her just what it means to trust again.
Mike will do anything to help Brie free herself from painful memories. Passionate, strong and gentle, he vows to give back to her what she’s so selflessly given him – her heart, and with it, a new beginning.

We met Mike all the way back in the beginning. He made a passing appearance back in Virgin River & played a bigger part in Shelter Mountain. Now he's decided to live permanently in Virgin River (though he lives in an RV...not sure how permanent that is!) and is trying to get over the injuries he sustained in the previous book.

Brie is Jack's baby sister & is coming off a nasty divorce. A high profile ADA, she's had her fair share of bad moments, but nothing like the rape & beating she suffers at the beginning of the book.

Mike is the first person to arrive from Virgin River & he watches over her. He's had a thing for her for a long time & can't seem to let himself leave.

This book broke my heart. Mike is a wonderful man. He's sweet & caring & does all he can to help mend Brie. He's so attentive to her & you know he loves her more than anything.

I like how he woos her so very slowly. He doesn't want to do anything that scares her & he knows that sex will have to wait until she's ready. I like how Ms. Carr set that up. When it happens it just gave me a little thrill inside.

There's also a date-rape investigation he's got going on in Virgin River & though we find out quite quickly who the bad guys are, it's satisfying how it all ends.

Again, I cannot stress how wonderful this series is so far. On her website, Ms. Carr states that there are more books on the way. I can hardly wait! She is now an auto-buy author for me.

If you love a wonderful romance with great characters & sweet romances, than these are the books for you!

My Rating-A
