Yup, I'm a nutty nut. :) I don't know if I'm a stubborn old fart (which would be sad since I'm only 31) or what, but sometimes I refuse to read books & I don't know why. For instance, there is a certain, very well-known author of paranormal romances (no, I will not name her...I'm not crazy!) who I refused to read for YEARS because I thought she was nothing but hype. I'd read some of her other stuff & wasn't impressed by it at all. I had a friend recommend this particular series to me & it took a TON of persuasion before I picked up the first book in the series. Of course, I ended up loving it. *eye roll*
And Kresley Cole. I just finished reading all 4 books in her Immortal series. I can't begin to tell you how many times I picked up the first book in the series only to put it down again. I don't know what turned me off all those times. I think 99% of it had to do with the front cover. It just looked cartoony to me & I didn't care for the back blurb. But, I've read the series so far & really enjoyed them. :) Is she my favorite paranormal author? No, but I like the world she's created and her writing is great. Sexy heroes, strong heroines, interesting world-building and great sex. What's not to like?
So here's my question for anyone who cares to answer. Is there an author out there that's loved by most that you just refuse to read? If so, why? What keeps you from reading them? I'm curious to know if I'm the only weirdo that has that problem. :)

I have finally bowed to the pressure and started the first BDB book last night. I just... eh? Now that I have started it, I think I like it. I still have most of the book to read, though.
Kresley Cole is another author I just can't bring myself to read.
My best friend absolutely refuses to read Harry Potter because of the hype. It kills me!
