First off, I cannot believe I've never blogged about this book before. How is that even possible? It's one of my all-time favorites & all that good stuff. *headdesk* Oh well, it doesn't hurt to do it now. :)

Aw, how I love this book. There are so many things about it that just make me sigh.

We are first introduced to Sebastian (or Dain as he is usually called) on the day of his birth and the subsequent events that make him into the man he becomes. Poor Dain hasn't had the easiest of lives. Not that he is the easiest person to be around, but he has his reasons.

As a grown man he has made a name for himself as the most debauched man & though he loves women, he will not have sex with anyone but whores (with good reason, in his mind). He's never really been tempted by a good woman until one day.

While shopping, he meets one of his comrades. Bertie isn't one Dain would call a friend; more a hanger's on. Bertie introduces him to his sister and that's when everything goes to hell in a hand basket.

Instant attraction, misunderstandings and ingrained beliefs seem to be the biggest parts of this story.

You've got a tough, strong Alpha-type hero who deep inside is very unsure of himself. You have a heroine who is just this side of being a bluestocking, but is sexy enough to get away with it. Their relationship definitely has it's ups and downs, but that's what makes it so much fun.

There are sweet and tender moments. Moments where you want to smack Dain upside the head. Moments where you're not sure if the relationship will survive.

And best of all? You have a relationship that's beautiful when it all comes down to it.

I cannot recommend this book enough. It's on a lot of romance readers top romance books of all time with good reason. It's a great historical romance, without the horrible purple prose. It's sweet, it's funny and it's well worth the money.
