Thoughts of the Past Year

I just realized about five minutes ago that I passed my one year anniversary the other day. Oops! I guess you can say I'm not the most organized person in the world. LOL!

I've enjoyed doing my reviews, meeting new authors (and other readers) and just plain having fun. But, I've also realized just how hard it is to review on a regular basis. I suck, to be honest. It seems I review books that either mean a lot to me or suck. I can't seem to review every single book I've read. And that's a shame, because I read A LOT! 17 1/2 books so far in 2009. I've got 12 more waiting to go. I scare myself sometimes.

I'm not one for resolutions, but I'm trying much harder to review more often this year, even if the book was nothing but mediocre. Here's hoping I can stick to it. I've got reviews pending for some erotica, an urban fantasy, a couple of historicals and an action/adventure romance. I just have to get them written.

I may not have that many readers or commenters, but I don't care. The whole point of me starting this blog was to talk about my love of reading and books in general.

I also have some more of my Special book reviews planned over the next month or so. Work, illness and life have made my life interesting this last month, but I am trying. Knock on wood and all that good stuff.

Here's hoping I can stay up-to-date and honest. he-he

I feel just the same way!

Now see, I think that's exactly the way it SHOULD be. You're reviewing books that made a strong impression. It's way harder to write a review about a book that was OK but nothing special, and it's frankly not that interesting to read those kind of reviews!

But I do know what you mean. I went back through my 2008 post index to see about what percentage of my posts were actual reviews, and it was a lot lower than I thought.

I'm not sure that bothers me, because I'm having a lot of fun with other kind of "connect the dots" style posts -- pulling out similarities between books, looking at different themes or characters.

I might do more spreadsheet posts, LOL. They kinda crack me up.
